NCAA XC Preview 2011

ncaaxc

Whilst the collegiate cross country season has been underway for a few weeks, almost all the meets have been low key openers or dual meets, with none of the major players locking horns just yet. However, there is not long to wait now before the real racing starts. Although there are many meets taking place nationwide, the ones below are some of the key open meets taking place over the coming weeks. These fixtures will see the majority of ranked teams competing for valuable ‘at large points’ which are crucial when it comes to determining national qualifiers. As each weeks fixtures takes place we will highlight notable British performances.

Date Meet Host
24-9-11 Roy Griak Invitational Minnesota
30-9-11 Notre Dame Invitational Notre Dame
1-10-11 Cowboy Jamboree Oklahoma State
1-10-11 Bill Dellinger Invitational Oregon
14-10-11 Wisconsin Invitational Wisconsin
15-10-11 Chilli Pepper Festival Arkansas
15-10-11 Pre Nationals Indiana State

As a useful starting point, last year’s top 40 returning male and female returners from the NCAA Championships are listed. Top returning Brits from last year are All-Americans Lee Carey of Providence and Natalie Gray of New Mexico.  We have also included this year’s week 1 cross country team rankings.  Highlighted teams and athletes are known to contain British and Irish athletes.. Apologies if we have missed anyone. Amendments can be sent via the Get In Touch page.
