Athlete Feature 16 [Audio] – Tom Farrell

For the second feature running, we’ve only gone and catered for the audiophiles out there. This time we speak to Tom Farrell about swapping the streets of Carlisle for the dirt roads of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Tom’s breakthrough came last track season when he clocked a 13:26 5000m at the Payton Jordan Invitational on May 1st, which was a B standard at the time. His Oklahoma State roster can be accessed here, and his Powerof10 profile, complete with PBs and UK racing history, here.

Tom goes into the NCAA XC Championships on Monday with his Oklahoma State team looking to win back-to-back-to-back titles. A win would be particularly poignant given the recent tragedy involving the school’s womens’ basketball head coach and assistant coach, who tragically lost their lives in an air crash yesterday.

In this interview he discusses his collegiate career, reasons for switching pavements for sidewalks, and cowboy fashion.
