NCAA Weekend Preview – Mt SAC & More

mtsac

“Where the world’s best athletes compete.” Take a quick look at the start lists for this weekend’s Mt SAC Relays and it would be hard to disagree with the events slogan. From the shot put to the 10,000m and everything in-between, we can guarantee that the 54th annual Mt SAC Relays will produce yet another weekend of world class athletics.

In terms of British and Irish interest, there will be a strong contingent competing this weekend. Collegiate, former collegiate, professional, and serious amateurs will all be making the annual pilgrimage out west.

UK Athletics have had a sprint camp based nearby and many GB 2012 hopefuls will be using Mt SAC to open their seasons. Other athletes, especially those in the distance races will be trying to make the most of opportunity to hit qualifying times at the first attempt. As the screenshot shows below (taken from weather.com), conditions are expected to be just about perfect for Friday nights ‘distance carnival.’

*Thought to be running Trafford 1500m on Sunday, despite entry.

Flotrack will be providing live coverage of the whole event.

However it doesn’t end there, as we also have John McDonnell Invitational from Arkansas (start lists), Oregon Relays (voila) AND the ACC Conference Championships featuring FSU and Duke. (Video) Kansas Relays also will have several athletes competing, including a men’s elite mile field containing some of the top US pros.

Enjoy track fans.
