NCAA XC Week 4 Round-Up

NCAA XC Week 4 Round-Up

NCAA XC Regionals

The final ‘warm up’ weekend of the cross country saw the Lamar men’s team dominate the LSU Invitational at Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Cardinals scored a perfect one through six in the men’s race, with five of these six athletes being either British or Irish. Sam Stabler, who hails from Leicester picked up his first collegiate cross country win leading his team home 14 seconds ahead of Irish team mate Chris Jones. The result also marks a dream start for the recently appointed Scottish distance coach Darren Gauson. After only being in Beaumont for barely over a week after moving from Butler, Gauson will surely be delighted with the way his new team performed.

Elsewhere, there was a win for Butler’s Katie Clark in ‘Toledo Bubble Buster.’ If ever a meet deserved a prize for coming up with a great name then surely this was it.

With the end of September nearly upon us, the real competitive action will start this coming week. Teams will be sending full strength line ups to meets, looking to score all important ‘at large points,’ crucial for teams looking to qualify for the NCAA meet in November.
