NCAA Indoor – Week 2 Round-up

Week 2 in the indoor season. 7 wins for British and Irish athletes across the nation. There was a win for incumbent mile Champion Chris O’Hare with a facility record 2:25 at Kansas State’s Wildcat Invitational. (200m flat track). Nick Miller of OSU took the weight throw win at the same meet. Frosh Marc Scott took the mile.

Elsewhere, there were a pair of wins over the mile for Lamar’s for Joe Wade and Becky Gough at the home of Southland Conference rivals, McNeese State.

True freshman Georgia Peel won an impressive 800m with a 2:08 clocking at the Auburn Invitational. TCU’s Lorraine Ugen’s 6.20 jump put her in the top 10 in the nation so far. Other victories came from Brown’s Henry Tufnell, Missou’s Jonathan Ilori, Missouri State’s Gabrielle Ade-Onojobi, DePaul’s Tonderai Tomu and Harry Sagel of Rice.

Outside of the collegiate ranks, former repeat Indoor mile champ, Lee Emanuel, looks to be back to his best after a few tough years with a comfortable 8 second victory at the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana. He clocked 7:52, just shy of his 7:51 best. Mark Draper, now based in the States, featured in the same race with a 8:17 showing.

Remember, it’s just the top 16 in each event that qualify for nationals this year. As the season progresses, we will be keeping you up to date with who’s in, and who’s on the bubble.
