NCAA championships day two round up and results

NCAA day two – ladies day

Minus the fancy hats and Pimms, day two in Eugene was the first of two ladies days. Whilst there were no new NCAA title winners to add to Nick Millers efforts on day one, Alice Wright came closest with a runner-up finish in the 10,000m. The New Mexico athlete ran an excellent race, with her time of 32.46 only 10 seconds down on what she ran earlier in the season at Stanford. However, comparing the two of championship style racing versus the cool time trial conditions in California, this is undoubtedly a better run. This second place finish is an improvement from eighth last year and rounds out an impressive season, where she was also fifth at the NCAA cross country. Behind Wright in the 10,000m, Tara Jameson achieved a very creditable All-American 7th place finish.

Of the six athletes competing in track semi-finals, only Sophie Connor (1500m) and Cindy Ofili (100h) were able to advance to Saturdays finals day.

Day three will be back to the men and all events are now finals. Six British men are set to compete and we eagerly anticipate whether the British 200m record may about to be broken?
